Are supporters of capitalism just deluded into thinking having a "great" job and lots of money is "success"?

Why is their whole thought process based on materialism and the culture ociated with it? They think having a bunch of stuff will make them feel better, yet they ignore how ridiculous their day-to-day activities are. They want a "nice" spouse and "nice" kids and "nice" friends etc in which they can talk about their "nice" job and their activities under this system. They will work until they retire. They exchange labour for money. Our whole culture is ociated with materialism. They think this is success. I dont understand.
