Find the dimensions of a rectangle of largest area that can be inscribed in a right triangle of sides 6,8,10?

In my notes i have the picture drawn and the first equation i have is x/6=(8-y)/8, i cant figure out how to get to this equation, i think it is something with similar triangles but am unsure.
