Should I bother with this guy?

the point is can u trust him if everyone says that he is a bad and a fake he will probably be why would people say so bad things for a person except if they know him ofc anyway its ur choice wanna risk or not?if u love him try it and if it goes bad leave him on the other hand if u stay away and say friends onky then he might get hurt and get angry but u will save ur feelings
