Lukemia survivability for 55yr old male?
Never smoked, very rarely drinks (like a few per year), high blood pressure, psoriasis, 240lbs 5'11", been trying to diet and eat healthy for the last 5 years, had very high white blood cell count and fatigue, doctors speculate it is lukemia of the sort that in general has a 47% survivability past 5 years, but my question is, since most people get this in their 70s and up, would a middle-aged person stand a much better chance? They say this is the chronic type, not the acute type, and that they think they're catching it very early. I don't know if this is something where some chemo and some bone marrow donations from his two sons (18 and 22 healthy non-smokers) combined with catching it early and him being only 55, can push his odds way up and delay things for many years, or even be able to beat this and let the clock go on like normal until he wrecks his harley when he's 90? His mother is still alive at 86, his father died at 80 from lung cancer, lifetime smoker.
