Why is my cat's hair turning color?

Yes it sounds like stress as cats do turn white with it! so do dogs my dog went from brown to gray white in a month after another dog attacked her, the vet said stress was to blame and told me it happens to cats too when there is changes or stressful events in the home,and a new puppy that the cats don't like will be very stress full.
